Game Settings - cragstone/Pendragon GitHub Wiki
There are a number of Pendragon Game Settings available:
Combat/Damage Options
Track Wounds
Defaults to "Checked". When checked you track individual wounds and the system calculates Current HP, Aggravation and Deterioration Damage for you. When "Unchecked" you won't record individual wounds but can enter the Current HP, Aggravation and Deterioration Damage. In either case Natural Healing will still work and update the current HP (in the case of Tracking Wounds the wounds will be adjusted which in turn changes the Current HP but if not Tracking Wounds then the Current HP are adjusted directly)
Character Options
Manual Glory
Default is "Unchecked". When activated this setting will add a permanent line at the top of the History/Events table where you can manually enter a Glory Adjustment. The score is persistent so you don't enter +10, or -20 - just the current total adjustment. This is aimed at GMs who don't want to have history items for each award.
Child Mortality
Default is "Checked". This determines whether child survival rolls and childbirth tragedies are allowed (ticked) or ignored (unticked).
Character token default vision
Default is "Checked". This determines whether newly created characters have Token Vision set to off or on. Tick the box to turn it on by default for new characters.
Allow relationships
Default is "Unchecked". When Checked this allows the GM to drag and drop and actors on to the character sheet and create a relationship between the two actors.
Age Youth Ends
Characters classified as Youth have their stats automatically reduced and Chaste/Lustful trait hidden. The default age where these adjustments end is 13, but you can alter this. If you want to turn this effect off set the value to zero.
Family Options
Random Names
Default is checked - this will assign randomly rolled names to family members, using the gender where possible to determine the rolls. You will need to set up Male and Female Name tables.
Create Cousins
When ticked an individual family member item will be created for each cousin, if unticked then they will all be lumped in to one item for the paternal family side and one for the maternal side.
XP Check Options
Automate XP
Default is "Unchecked". If this option is turned on then any skill, trait or passion will get an XP check added whenever a Critical, Success or Fumble is rolled. Traits that are fumbled award the XP check to the opposing trait. When using a weapon the XP check is applied to the relevant skill. You can still manually check and uncheck the XP boxes on individual skills etc. An Inquiry Roll, Dodge or Evade combat action will not automatically add an XP check.
Fumble XP
Default is "Unchecked". If turned off then Automate XP will not be granted in the event of a Fumble. If Automate XP All is turned off then this will have no effect.
Dice Roll Options
Toggle SHIFT click
Default is "Unchecked". By default when clicking a Check Roll (skill, trait etc) a dialogue box opens asking for things like modifiers. Pressing SHIFT and clicking stops this box from appearing and uses no modifiers (unless set by something else in the game). Activating this option changes this behaviour so that the default is that no box appears, and using SHIFT + click causes the box to appear. This is set separately by the person playing the game and can be different for each player. This does not apply to Horse damage where the SHIFT key is used to apply charging damage.
Critical Bonus Adjustment
Default is "Checked". When an opposed or combat roll is made and all parties have a critical bonus due to scores of 20+ then all parties' bonuses are reduced by the lowest bonus. For example, two knights with Sword Skills of 20 (+3) and 20 (+5) would see their Skills reduced to 20 and 20 (+2), respectively. This rule has the effect of putting equally-proficient characters on a more even footing with fewer critical successes overall.
Finish Dice Rolls
Default is "Unchecked". When activated the Combat and Opposed Chat Cards will not update until the dice animations have finished if using Dice So Nice, to maintain the suspense of a roll.
Display Options
Show help icon
Default is "Checked". When checked you will see a help icon (question mark in an orange circle) at various places which will link you to the relevant page in this wiki. Unchecking this option which hide the icons. This is set separately by the person playing the game and can be different for each player.
Other Settings
Show Players Party Details
Default is "Checked". The Party Actor type allows several characters to be added allowing for an easy view of the party. For each character you will see their character image, a HP Bar showing how healthy they are along with the current and max HP values, and a list of Traits, Passions and Skills with a score of 16+. This option when ticked (the default) allows players to see all of the above. When unticked they will still see the character image and HP bar but not the HP values or the list of Traits, Passions and Skills.
When Creating NPCs
When you drop an NPC that has rollable stats, skills, passions or traits on to the canvas you can chose to either Roll the Stats or Ignore them. This setting lets you choose a default option:
- Ask - you will always be asked if there are rollable stats
- Roll - you will always roll the stats (which will also reset HP and other derived stats to the new calculated values)
- Ignore - never roll the stats etc
Feast Deck
When running a Feast if you have a Feast Deck then you get some additional functionalty. The GM Handbook premium module comes with a Feast Deck and by default the system will use that if present. You can enter the UUID of your own Feast Deck here and it will be used in preference. If the UUID is invalid you will get a warning that the GM Handbook Feast Deck is being used instead when you turn the Combat in to a Feast from the Combat Tracker.
