Flying Dylan
The Dylan-Controller interface is configured to only be flown in the Horizon flight mode. This means the IMU (gyroscope and accelerometer) are used to help the drone maintain a level flight. When the controller sticks are return to center position (except for the throttle), the drone enters a level state.
It is strongly recommended to first fly with a controller and simulator before flying the real thing as there is a rather steep learning curve.
Flying Dylan with a Simulator
I recommend using the following simulator, which can be purchased on Steam for $19.99: https://store.steampowered.com/app/410340/Liftoff_FPV_Drone_Racing/
After hooking up the controller to your computer via a USB-C cable, and going through the menus, press the A
button on your keyboard to switch it into the level flight mode, which is essentially the same as the Horizon flight mode.
Here is a valuable playlist that explains how to fly an FPV drone with the simulator as mentioned above: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpuXqNakP2A&list=PLwoDb7WF6c8lCKhQOTy-Vb9LfW0VAIrTP
Actually Flying Dylan
It is vital to ensure that before flying Dylan, the batteries are in a healthy state: https://cornell.box.com/s/qp6i9g6mrqnofni2mahdwhdea5pkh5fe
After this is the case, refer to the following video on how to setup Dylan for the first flight: https://youtu.be/mS-fJGWN8s0?si=o1vapsYMjsGDxlqq&t=226
