1. in any case, run the self-test diagnostic utility
   • can be selected during startup (press F1 / ESC)
   • follow instructions on screen
   • note that certain tests cannot be run unsupervised (key-pressing required)
2. if needed, open a Service Support Ticket and report...
   • the serial number of the laptop
     • the dark/black sticker on the back of the laptop
     • this is NOT its inventory number
   • the diagnostics code obtained from running the self-test

Without power, it's impossible to retrieve a Diagnostics Code from the machine.

Solution: emergency reset

1. close the lid
2. disconnect the laptop from any power source
3. use a needle / paperclip, press into the pin-hole on the back of the laptop for about 40 sec.
   • This is NOT a hard reset. You will not lose any settings or data.

Use the same procedure when pressing the power button does not turn the machine on.
