The purpose of Equivalency Guidelines is to define the criteria for determining whether different models or versions of a technology type are equivalent for purposes of evaluation against this PP. Generally, products are equivalent of there is no difference in the way that PP-specified security functionality is implemented between the products.

Equivalence is very much technology-specific, so there is no generic way to define the Guidelines. But Equivalency Guidelines generally have a similar structure:

• Introduction
• Approach to Equivalency Analysis
• Specific Guidance to Determining Product Equivalence
• Technical Equivalence
• Level of Specificity for Tested and Claimed Equivalent Configurations
