CCRP Open licences

The Colouring Cities Research Programmme (CCRP) is an open knowledge initiative where all code, data and methods are released openly for everyone to access, subject to open licence terms of use and accreditation.


CCRP Open data/open database licence

CCRP Open data are licensed under the Open Data Commons Open Database License by Colouring Cities contributors. Under this licence you are free to copy, distribute, transmit and adapt our data, as long as you credit Colouring Cities and our contributors. If you alter or build upon our data, you may distribute the result only under the same licence.

Below is a ODbL human-readable summary of the ODbL 1.0 license. Please note that this is not a license. It is simply a helpful reference provided by the Open Data Commons for understanding the ODbL 1.0. This has no legal value, and its contents do not appear in the actual license. Read the full ODbL 1.0 license text for the exact terms that apply.

To share: To copy, distribute and use the database To create: To produce works from the database To adapt: To modify, transform and building open the database.

As long as you:

Attribute: You must attribute any public use of the database, or works produced from the database, in the manner specified in the ODbL. For any use or redistribution of the database, or works produced from it, you must make clear to others the license of the database and keep intact any notices on the original database;

Share-Alike: If you publicly use any adapted version of this database, or works produced from an adapted database, you must also offer that adapted database under the ODbL;

Keep open: If you redistribute the database, or an adapted version of it, then you may use technological measures that restrict the work (such as DRM) as long as you also redistribute a version without such measures.


CCRP Open source code/software licence

CCRP open platform code are available under a GNU, General Public Licence (https://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-3.0.en.html). If you alter or build upon our open code, you may distribute the result only under the same licence. Terms of the CCRP licence can be found here.


CCRP Open Manual licence

Our strategy, governance model, methods, protocols and codes of conduct are released within our Open Manual under an MIT licence. Please feel free to cite text using the following reference: Hudson, P. (ed) (2023) Colouring Cities Research Programme Open Manual, 2023. Published on GitHub. This ensures contributors to the open research manual and open programme are properly acknowledged.
