Notes
-
Ted Ralphs was re-elected as chair
-
The next meeting will be December 19 at 10:00 EST. At that meeting, we will decide on the meeting schedule for the spring.
-
It was agreed we should explicitly invite project managers to attend all TLC meetings and to post agendas and notes to the PMs mailing list in order to improve communications. We will also keep a careful eye on the burdens imposed on the project managers by the TLC.
-
The placement of README, INSTALL, LICENSE, and AUTHOR files will be as follows:
-
For connected projects, the root directory will contain the full INSTALL file for the project, plus short README, LICENSE, and AUTHORS files stating something to the effect of "Please see the appropriate files in the accompanying subdirectories." The sull project README, INSTALL, and LICENSE files should appear in the root/"project_name" subdirectory, so that they will be included when the project is imported as an external into another project.
-
For stand-alone projects, the files should appear in the root directory.
-
-
It was agreed that Andreas will try to convince the project managers of the connected projects to agree to let him re-run the autotools in their stable directories and commit updated configuration files whenever there is a substantial change in the build tools files, i.e., a change that would make projects that are not updated in compatible with projects that are updated.
-
It was decided that the CoinHelp project will be left as it is for now until we have more experience with homw much management is need or it becomes clear what will happen with the Coin Documentation Project.
-
The progress update on static Web pages for prjects was tabled until the next meeting.
-
It was decided that if someone is willing to maintain it, a CoinAll project would be "nice to have," Bill Hart has volunteered to help with maintenance of a new incarnation of such a projectbecause it would benefit Sandia National Labs efforts. Ted will contact him to discuss.
-
Andreas is managing the Data project. It was discussed that we should encourage project managers who depend on the data project to implement short "installation verification tests" that depend only on the Data/Sample directory in order to avoid requiring users to download large data sets.
-
Goals for coming year
- Updating PM guidelines and project submission guidelines.
- Smoothing out the binary release procedures.
- Producing a COIN RPM.
- Dealing with static project Web page issues.
- Taking some time to make sure everything is working properly.
Respectfully submitted,
Ted Ralphs, TLC Chair
