Learning Log 4 - cocotirambulo/DSF_SP2024 GitHub Wiki

Rose: The highlight from the previous FOSS session, such as something you found particularly interesting. This could also be something you're excited to implement now.

One highlight from the previous FOSS session was learning about the various platforms and tools available for hosting project documentation. I found it particularly interesting to see how different systems cater to different needs and purposes, from simple ReadMe files on GitHub to more comprehensive documentation systems like ReadTheDocs.

Bud: Something that you are looking forward to digging into deeper. This could also include ideas on how to apply concepts to your research in the future.

I am looking forward to digging deeper into the process of building a GitHub Pages website using MkDocs. It seems like a powerful tool for creating and maintaining project documentation, and I'm excited to explore its features further. I can see how this could greatly benefit my research by providing a centralized and accessible platform for sharing information with collaborators and the wider community.

Thorn: Something that was challenging that could be worked on, such as anything that wasn't 100% clear and could be elaborated on. Any sticking points should be addressed here.

One aspect that could be further elaborated on is the integration of communication tools like Slack and Microsoft Teams within project workflows. While the documentation provides an overview of these tools and their features, more detailed guidance on best practices for using them effectively in research projects would be helpful. Additionally, examples or case studies demonstrating their application in real-world scenarios could enhance understanding and provide practical insights for users.

Additional thought: Write anything that you think would be important for YOU later on.
