DSF Learning Log 3
Rose:
The highlight from the previous FOSS session, such as something you found particularly interesting. This could also be something you're excited to implement now.
- A noteworthy aspect from the previous FOSS session was the emphasis on project governance and organization. Understanding the importance of establishing clear roles, responsibilities, and boundaries in collaborative projects is essential for keeping work on track and ensuring timely completion. Additionally, the discussion on project organization highlighted the significance of well-structured projects, making them accessible to others and easing collaboration. I really enjoyed Rudy's emphasis on developing connections and trust with the people in your field because a lot of the time it is not truly talked about when it's one of the most important things to foster and nurture.
Bud:
Something that you are looking forward to digging into deeper. This could also include ideas on how to apply concepts to your research in the future.
- Something that I am looking forward to digging into deeper is the application of agile methodologies in research projects. Exploring how agile principles such as iterative development and adaptability can be effectively implemented in scientific research could greatly enhance project management and productivity. I'm excited to learn more about how to integrate these methodologies into my own research practices.
Thorn:
Something that was challenging that could be worked on, such as anything that wasn't 100% clear and could be elaborated on. Any sticking points should be addressed here.
- One aspect that could be further elaborated on is the practical implementation of project management tools and approaches discussed in the session. While the importance of project governance and organization was emphasized, specific strategies and techniques for implementing these practices in real-world research projects could be beneficial. Clear examples or case studies demonstrating successful project management implementation would help clarify any uncertainties and provide practical guidance for researchers.
Additional thought:
Write anything that you think would be important for YOU later on.
