Rubot
A Rubik's cube solver. Place the cube into the machine and watch it solve it.
We wanted to get an introduction to a project involving electronics. The parts for the solver were 3D printed and assembled, we made a PCB board and we made a solving algorithm. The cube solver works by placing the cube on a tray which rotates, and a head that holds the cube in place and flicks upwards to rotate the cube. Both servos are controlled by a raspberry pi. The algorithm follows steps people can use to solve Rubik's cubes (specifically from https://rubiks-cube-solver.com/how-to-solve/) rather than a known cube solving algorithm. Eventually we ran into issues with connecting the raspberry pi to the CMU Wifi, so the solver is not functional.
