Breadboard Wire Cutter/Stripper
Tired of cutting and stripping wires for 18100 lab circuits? Use our wire cutter/stripper to prepare perfect length wires automatically and quickly.
The main purpose of this project is to automatically cut and strip breadboard wires to eliminate the timely process of preparing wires for circuits that our team members experienced in 18-100 labs. The Raspberry Pi Pico is the microcontroller. FS90R continuous servo motors are used to take wire from the spool and accurately measure the length of the wire the user specified. The ILI9341 touch display is used for an easy-to-use user interface that supports touch control. Our ultimate goal was to be able to load a circuit schematic file and cut and strip all of the wires needed automatically. However, during building week, realizing how time constraining build week is, we decided to focus only on the cutting and the stripping of the wires. We started with the servo and the touch display, and got it working on Thursday, and had a finalized Onshape CAD data for the mechanism and casing in Friday. We tried to start printing parts out on Friday, but because we wrongly assumed TechSpark 3D printers would be working on Weekends, we could not get the parts ready. On Saturday, we substituted the 3D print parts with cardboard, but because of the lack of precision, we could not accomplish our goal to automatically cut and strip wires.
