iTerm2 is my terminal choice on OS X.

Shortcuts

• Preferences -> Keys -> check Show/hide iTerm2 with a system-wide hotkey, use F12 (Unbind the default in System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Shortcuts -> Mission Control -> Show Dashboard).

To split windows:

• Command+D: split vertically
• Command+Shit+D: split horizontally
