Climsoft development started in early 2000's initially targeting users in development countries. It became so popular with many countries that spread over Africa, Indian Ocean, Asia and Central America.

Climsoft version 4 was the first version of the software to adopt an approved Open Source License (source code released on GitHub with GPL v3).
