Cloud Solutions Architect (CSA)

Works with the AWS Infrastructure Scrum, Application Development, Cloud Hosting, and Architecture teams to:

• Evangelize our cloud strategy by working with development and operations teams to adopt and promote best practices for managing workloads in AWS:

  • operational excellence
  • security
  • reliability
  • performance
  • efficiency
  • cost optimization

• Engineer our AWS cloud journey by developing:

  • design patterns
  • account frameworks
  • standard tools
  • approaches

• Teach and coach our cloud practitioners in the development and operations teams to embrace Agile DevOps and automation as the means to deliver value in the AWS cloud

• Will initially report to CTO until role engagement is established

CSA and Team Engagement

• AWS Infrastructure Scrum Team

  • find common ground of project work and IST backlog
    • attend backlog grooming sessions
    • offer to take on some of the backlog items needed for current projects

• Application Development

  • work within app dev team to provide guidance on howto devops with cross functional team to deliver sprint deliverables
  • use or create standards based infrastructure

• Cloud Hosting Services Team

  • Removal from CHS SN ticket assignments
  • Will not attend CHS standups
  • Will (or will not) attend weekly CHS team mtgs?
  • Resources provided by CHS resource manager to projects
  • Available for consultation to CHS resources on AWS related issues
  • CHS resources will learn how to deploy standards based infrastructure within context of project work
  • Mentor/Coach CHS resources to teach CHS peers how to deploy/maintain standards based infrastructure
  • CHS resources may inherit limited (ie simple) AWS SN work while on projects

• Architecture Team

  • regular collaboration to set standards
  • implementation of standards in project work
