11 ‐ Pedal Faces - chrisjameschamp/DIY-Active-Pedal-Design GitHub Wiki
Differences in Parts
There are two distinct pedal face shapes and three different mounting brackets.
- The throttle pedal is significantly larger and uses its own mounting bracket.
- The brake and clutch pedals share the same face but use different brackets depending on the spacing you want:
- The brake bracket offsets the face toward the right to maintain equal spacing between all three pedals.
- The clutch bracket centers the face more closely, ideal for use in a two-pedal setup if you prefer tighter spacing.
Preparing
The Mounting Bracket
Each bracket consists of:
- A mounting bracket
- A cosmetic beauty ring
Snap the beauty ring over the bracket. It should fit snugly, but doesn't need to be perfect — it will be clamped in place when you attach the pedal face.
Next, insert two 5mm thin hex nuts into the cutouts on the back of the bracket.
If they're loose, apply a small dab of super glue to hold them in place during assembly.
The Pedal Face
On the back of each pedal face, there are multiple screw holes.
Use the ones indicated by the circular recesses:
🔧 Note for Throttle Pedals:
You’ll see two sets of circles. Use the closer-spaced pair.
The wider spacing was for an optional side-mount accessory that was never finalized.
Assembly
Attaching the Mounting Bracket
Use two M5x0.8 16mm Flat Head Screws to attach the mounting bracket to the pedal arm.
Attaching the Pedal Face
Then, using two more M5x0.8 16mm Flat Head Screws, secure the pedal face to the mounting bracket.
✅ Great job!
You've now successfully assembled a complete active pedal.
