09 ‐ Slider Cover - chrisjameschamp/DIY-Active-Pedal-Design GitHub Wiki
Now we’re going to add the cover over the slider assembly. This step is important — the cover helps keep dust and debris away from the linear actuator and slider, reducing wear and tear over time.
Assembly
Preparing the Cover
Start by inserting 2 M3 Heat Set Inserts into the recessed holes on the rear of the cover.
Next, prepare the coax antenna cable. Remove the 2 lock washers and nut from the threaded fitting.
Insert the fitting into the hole at the rear of the cover from the inside, pointing outward.
You may need to carefully bore the hole slightly larger depending on the connector diameter.
Reattach the lock washers and nut on the outside, in the same order they were removed.
Attaching the Cover
Feed the load cell arm and wire through the opening in the cover. Then slide the cover into place over the assembly.
Before fully seating the cover:
- Ensure the ribbon cable for the load cell tucks cleanly under the cover — avoid pinching.
- Double-check the antenna coax cable isn't caught or strained.
Once both cables are safely routed, press and gently wiggle the cover down into position.
Secure the rear of the cover to the rear IO bracket using
2 M3x16mm Socket Head Screws.
Finally, attach the cover to the linear rail using
4 M2.5x0.45 8mm Socket Head Screws — 2 on each side of the cover.
✅ Awesome — you’re nearly done. Just one final step to go!
