Before installing Scala, you must install the Java Runtime Environment (JRE). In doing so, Java will also be installed on your System. If Java is already installed on your System, skip these next steps to install Scala exclusively.

Installing the JRE

1. Click here and click on the Download Java button.

2. Select Open to run the Executable (.exe) file. You can click on Save As to download the file to manually install at a later time if desired.

3. Select Install. Select the Checkbox if you wish to change the Destination Folder.

4. It may take a few minutes to install. You can also upgrade future versions this way.

5. Congrats! Java is successfully installed when you see this screen.
