Nodes

  • Node Icon:
    • Two shapes of nodes:
      • Double Node(double node where inner node is the same size as the simple node) for nodes starting ages (Adam and Eve, Noah, Abraham, David, Sedechias) and nodes starting lines of kings (Jerobam, Bennadab, Phul, Merodach, Darius, Alexander, Julius Cesar), four christ nodes, hysmeria, anna
      • Simple Node for all other nodes
    • Color: Red
  • Labels
    • taken from superstructure
    • latin orthography
    • color of node labels --> black for men, red for women
  • Interactions
    • on Hover: Highlight Node and corresponding text icon (if applicable), Show Tooltip with normalized English Label (from superstructure)
    • on Click: link to 3rd layer page

Texts

  • Text Icon:
    • abstracted Text Icon
    • Two shapes/sizes
      • small icons: texts referring to a person
      • large icons(can vary in exact size and shape)**: **narratives, other texts
  • Label(Text)/Descriptor‚
    • Rules for constituting “descriptors”
      • use the incipits from the (transcribed/critical) latin text (from superstructure), shortened if necessary
  • Position;
    • basic rule: as close to the referred item as possible, but (1) not disturbing the order of the graph and (2) aligned with other text nodes as far as possible
    • additional rules: (if possible) align all text icons to the two sides of the graph to give the idea of a “roll”.
  • Interactions
    • on Hover:Highlight Text and (if applicable) corresponding Node, show Tooltip (full incipit and english translation, both from superstructure)
    • on Click: Link to Third Layer

Technical Documentation & Workflow

  • preliminary sketchting of Navgraph done in Miro
  • SVG Version of Navgraph
    • Basic SVG Elements are drawn and positioned in an SVG Editor (Adobe Illustrator)
    • resulting SVG export is processed via a XProc/XSLT Pipeline to refine SVG Code and query metadata from central server
    • SVG and custom CSS are wrapped into a TEI-XML File (using tei:xenoData)

Second Layer [Andreas, Sina]

Technical Documentation & Workflow

  • SVG snippets derived from main NavGraph SVG Document and procesed by the pipeline described above
  • Individual Second Layer pages for each Group are created via a Jinja2 Template iterating over metadata taken from the superstructure

Structural Variants: Adam and Eve [Lennart]

  • Drawing of the local structural variants in miro based on our art-historic manuscript groups
  • Structural elements include variations of medallion size, shape and connection lines
  • Red for necessary structural elements, grey for additionally occurring variants within a given group
  • Names, medallion size and line thickness were normalised
