Authoring tools

The SDK favors free tools with open formats. LibreSprite is used for pixel-art templates, Tiled JSON is used for the experimental authored-map pipeline, and DragonBones is the optional external bone-animation editor. These tools may be installed outside the workspace; their project files and exported game assets stay inside the mod project. Captivity converts DragonBones JSON back into its own portable animation format and does not require the DragonBones runtime in the game.

Start with Install the authoring tools to obtain the correct Unity editor, open the Captivity Reloaded project, and install Tiled or DragonBones. Captivity Reloaded is a complete Unity project; do not create a blank Unity project and do not look for a separate .unitypackage to import.

Use the visual walkthroughs for annotated locations in the game, Unity, Tiled, and DragonBones. The screenshots are captured from the actual project and installed tools; uncaptured steps are labeled instead of being represented by mock UI.

For a quick check of an exported Core enemy without opening an authoring application, extract the Core Enemies ZIP and load one enemy folder in the browser-based Rig Previewer. See DragonBones round trip for the expected folder layout and controls.
