Who are the Chaos-Mentors for?

You've always wanted to visit the Chaos Communication Congress, and you're interested in topics such as privacy, computer security, hardware hacking or network policies? But you don't have any connection into the community yet? Perhaps, you've already attended a chaos event, but you feel like you're "not really a hacker" or that you do not fit in just right? Are you a non-male hacker, or a member of any under-represented group and unsure, if you'll feel comfortable? Or do you have specific needs, that will make participation a challenge for you?

We would like to welcome you to Congress and make it easier for you to get settled!

Feel welcome at the Chaos Communication Congress with the Chaos Mentors! You have come to the right place and we would like to help you, to have an exciting and beautiful stay. As a "mentee", you will be introduced to a mentor, who is a seasoned congress visitor. Mentors and mentees will be assigned to a group, based on the interests you tell us about. Before Congress, the godparents will be available for your questions, will welcome you and on the first day of congress, \they will explore congress with you and help you select the most interesting talks and workshops. During Congress, the Chaos-Mentors-Assembly will be available to you, as a base from where you can venture out and explore.

Who are the Chaos-Mentors?

The chaos mentors are a group of haecksen and hackers who have been through the experience of being new to congress, and being overwhelmed and intimidated by it. Our goal is to make congress (and any other chaos event) more diverse, and to make everyone who is interested in hacking feel welcome.

What is the godparent?

The godparent is a software, that acts as a platform for mentors and participants to meet and communicate.

The platform will enable mentees to connect with us, and us to find the perfect mentor for you. If you are a mentor, you can register here too, and we will use the platform to match-up mentors and mentees.

Before, during and after an event, you will be able to exchange messages through the platform.
