These are the policies for selecting the CGO Test of Time Awards.

Test of Time Awards
- The Test of Time (ToT) Awards are designated to papers that have been published at CGO 12-10 years prior to the year they are awarded (i.e. the CGO ToT Award 2025 considers papers published at CGO 2015, CGO 2014, and CGO 2013).
- The ToT Awards should showcase papers published at CGO that had a lasting impact and have, therefore, stood the test of time.
Responsibility
- The SC chair is responsible for assembling a ToT Award Committee
- The ToT Award Committee is responsible for selecting the ToT award
- The GC is responsible for organizing the printing of award certificates
- The ToT Award Committee chair is responsible for presenting the award at the conference
ToT Awards Committee
- The ToT Awards Committee should be assembled by the SC chair
- It should comprise of at least 5 members
- The ToT Awards Committee should be assembled considering potential conflicts of interests and following the guidelines of the SIGPLAN Diversity Policy
Process
- A pool of candidate papers from the three years to consider is assembled.
- The selection of candidate papers should not purely be done by the highest number of citations
- The ToT Awards Committee members read the candidate papers
- Each ToT Awards Committee member ranks the candidate papers and send their ranking to the committee chair
- After all rankings have been submitted, the committee chair moderates (possibly multiple rounds of) online discussions until the committee reaches consensus
- The ToT Awards Committee should produce a citation highlight the contributions the paper has made and why it has stood the test of time. The citation is read out during the awards sessions.
- The ToT Awards Committee chair should inform the authors of the awarded paper to allow them to travel to the conference
Timeline
- The selection of ToT Awards should be completed at least 3 month prior to the conference to allow time for inviting the authors of the awarded paper to travel to the conference to accept the award
Presentation of the Award
- The ToT Awards Committee Chair should present the award session at the conference reading out the citation.
