support - cdisc-org/hub GitHub Wiki

Intro

Here you can find descriptions of how CDISC will support participation in the repositories, both for GitHub and ZenHub.

Joining CDISC's teams at GitHub and ZenHub

Once a user is granted approval to join a CDISC project team, they will seek membership in the CDISC GitHub organization, referred to as cdisc-org, and the CDISC ZenHub organization, also identified as cdisc-org. The outlined steps are as follows.

  1. The user signs up for both GitHub and ZenHub accounts. The user can use an existing GitHub account if they wish.
  2. If it hasn't already been done, the user asks CDISC IT to add their GitHub account to the CDISC GitHub organization. See your superviser or Scrum Master for information regarding where to send this request. IT will validate the request and add them to the organization.
  3. When you sign up for a ZenHub account in the cdisc-org organization, a ZenHub admin will receive a request to add the new account to our ZenHub licenses. If it is a valid request the admin will assign a ZenHub license to the account.
  4. The user installs the ZenHub browser extension.
  5. The user visits the repository and clicks on the new ZenHub tab.
  6. The user selects the workspace within which they will be participating (ask your Scrum Master or Product Owner which workspace to open).

Note that, by default, organization members are provided the 'Write' role for the repository.

Outside collaborators

If there are highly involved volunteers who, for whatever reason, should not be part of the CDISC GitHub organization, they can still be included as outside collaborators. This is a designation applied to a GitHub account that is not in the CDISC GitHub organization, but is given permission specifically for participating in a particular repo.

The repo owner will be responsible for providing that access. Note that the repo owner will also need to determine the role for that individual. The repo owner will choose that role as part of applying the outside collaborator status to the account.
