Forming the Community of Practice (CoP) around GitHub and ZenHub

First Steps

1. Define the purpose and goals of the CoP

   • Achievements
   • Needs

2. Identify potential members:

   • Who would benefit from being part of this community?
     • People who are new to GitHub and ZenHub and want to learn the basics.
     • People who are already using these tools but want to learn more advanced techniques.
     • People who are working on projects that could benefit from using GitHub and ZenHub.
   • Who is already using GitHub and ZenHub?
     • DDF
     • CORE (Engine, Rule Editor, etc)
     • ARS
     • ?
   • Who will need to start using it soon?
     • (? Projects ?)

3. Create a communication platform

   • We need a place where members can communicate with each other, share ideas, and collaborate on projects. Some possible ideas:
     • Slack
     • Discord
     • GitHub discussions

4. Meetings (or lack thereof)

   • How will events be organized for members of the CoP? Embracing the work ethos around GitHub and Scrum, we do not want to demand meeting time. So how will members of the CoP get together when they need it? Who organizes this?

5. Encourage participation and collaboration

   • For a successful CoP, we need participation from its members. We will want to recognize participation, encourage members to write articles.

1. Start small: Don't try to build a large community from scratch.
2. Be flexible: We may need to adjust the schedule, agenda, and communication platform.
3. Have fun: A CoP should be a place where people can learn, grow, and have fun. Make sure to create an environment that is both enjoyable and productive.
