Welcome to the ConnectedYogurtMaker wiki!

A yogurt maker is basically a simple plastic enclosure expected to keep yogurt mixture at a temperature of 38°C for something like 10 hours. Not a big deal. The 70's and 80's have produced tons of them, some of them were not great. I remember my mom saying that her machine did not work anymore, that it has been repaired but without luck. If you get the chance to open one of them, you will find a heating plate of 10 to 25W, a thermostat in some of them and a timer on others. I do own 2 AEGs, almost the same model, one having a thermostat, and is working perfectly, the other has a timer, supposed to keep the heat from 4 hours to 10 hours, with a small IC and a potentiometer. Those timers are not reliable, the rely on a bunch of resistors and a few capacitors. When the real capacity of those capacitors change, and they do, the delay change drastically. On mine, 10 hours settings stops after 2,5 hours. So, why not getting rid of this old electronic and not adding a small µcontroller and a relay?
