Taxidermy Shop - cavesandcreatures/the-goblins-of-whismywood GitHub Wiki
Plot
Run by the "Taxman", it offers taxidermy services and contains many different animals. Has a cyptid section in the back. The Taxman can give the Cyptid Hunt Quest to find a cryptid in the Forest, which turns out to be a Druid Shapeshifter.
Setting
The taxidermy shop is dimmly lit, casting an unsettling mood throughout the building, even in the daytime. Various animal heads line the walls and the beams on the ceiling, and tables and stands display various creatures. There's hardly any room to move around without bumping into something that has been stuffed or mounted.
Most of the animals are common enough: rodents, birds, and lizards of all shapes and sizes. However there are strange animals here to, such as a displacer beast, an owlbear, the head of a griffon (or really big bald eagle?), the head of a green dragon wyrmling, and a collection of beholder eyes. The floor has an owlbear-skin rug.
The Taxman has a secret room where he keeps taxidermied cryptids. By rolling back the owlbear-head rug and opening a door in the floor, the players can follow him down to a small basement where he lights a lantern and shows off his creepy collection of rare, one-of-kind animals that he has caught and stuffed. He can bestow a quest to catch a jackaloupe.
Encounter
If the party begins a fight with the Taxman, he will utilize his timepiece to reanimate some of the trophies. The party will have to fight those to get to the Taxman, or remove the timepiece from him to break the spell.
