imaging, Backup, and Recovery

Veeam Backup Free Edition is a free tool for backing up virtual machines (VMs) in VMware and Hyper-V environments. The latest version of Veeam Backup Free Edition, version 7, has many powerful features, including VeeamZIP, which creates an ad-hoc backup of a running VM, powerful and flexible restores, and Quick Migration, which migrates a live VM between hosts or datastores with minimal downtime. Veeam Backup Free Edition is helpful for updating, archiving, or copying a VM to a remote host or test lab. It is also very efficient, with fast processing and optimizations such as parallel processing of virtual disks and filtering out empty blocks. The tool supports several data recovery scenarios, such as restoring an entire VM, restoring VM disks, and restoring guest OS files. Veeam Backup Free Edition also has several new features in version 7, such as native tape support, which can be helpful for datacenters that still use tapes for archived or offsite backups.
