How to install mods for Kingmaker: Wrath of the Righteous (WotR)

Step 1: Install Unity Mod Manager (UMM)

  1. Go to the UMM Nexus page and download UMM
  2. Unzip the file, and place in a folder of your choice (I use C:/Games/Tools/WotR myself, but you can use whatever you can remember)
    • Separate-Folder
    • Install-In-Folder
  3. Open UMM
    • UMMexe
  4. Set your game to Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous
    • UMM-Game
  5. Make sure the folder is set to your WotR installation (should automatically be filled)
    • UMM-GameFolder
  6. Set your installation method. Doorstop Proxy is the preferred method, however only Assembly works for some people, so use that if you have to.
    • UMM-InstallMethod
  7. Click the Install button
    • UMM-InstallButton

Step 1.5: Install Modfinder (Windows users only) (Optional)

This is an optional step, and only Windows users can do this step

Modfinder is a program with a predefined list of mods that can install both UMM based mods and OwlMod mods, can autodownload from Github, and can autoupdate your mods.

  1. Download Modfinder from the Github
  2. Unzip the file, and place in a folder of your choice (I use C:/Games/Tools/WotR myself, but you can use whatever you can remember)
    • Separate-Folder
    • Install-In-Folder

Step 2a: Install Mods via UMM

This only works for UMM based mods, if the mod you want to install mentions editing OwlcatModificationManagerSettings.json, follow the OwlMod installation steps or use Modfinder's steps

  1. Find the mods you want to install! Can be found on Nexus's WotR section, the #Mod-Updates channel in the Discord, or elsewhere.
  2. Download the file! (Open the subsections for the website you are downloading from)

  1. Find the file you downloaded
    • Manual-Downloads
    • Manual-ZipFile
  2. Open UMM, and select the Mods tab
    • UMM-ModsTab
  3. Drag the mod file onto the Install section of UMM
    • UMM-ManualInstall

Step 2b: Install mods via Modfinder

  1. Open Modfinder
  2. Search through the list for mods that interest you (keep in mind not all mods are up to date for the current version of WotR)
  • You can see a brief description of the mods here

  • You can also search for specific mods
    • Modfinder-Search 3a. Click the Install button next to the mods (If it says Download, follow step 3b)
    • Modfinder-InstallButton 3b. Click the Download button next to the mods (Open the subsection for the entire process)

  • Click the Download button
    • Modfinder-DownloadButton
  • It will take you to the main page of the mod, download the file (see site instructions)

Installing Portrait Mods

Windows

Unzip the portrait zip file into your %UserProfile%\AppData\LocalLow\Owlcat Games\Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous\Portraits folder

Steam Deck

From Vek on Discord, may not be the correct directory for everyone

Place the files from your portrait mod zip into the /home/deck/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/1725540/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/LocalLow/Owlcat Games/ Pathfinder Wrath Of The Righteous/Portraits folder
