Command groups

Command-line utilities within the scs_dev package fall into the following categories:

Environmental sampling

These utilities are used to perform environmental sampling.

• climate_sampler

Device status

These utilities are used to sample the status of the host system.

Device control

These utilities are used to control the operation of the host system.

Network data transmission

This utility is used to transmit data to another process on the local host or local area network.

Subscribing to / publishing live data

These utilities are used to publish and subscribe to data on either Amazon Web Services (AWS) data infrastructure.

• aws_mqtt_client

File-based data management

These utilities are used to store and retrieve data in comma-separated value (CSV) format, and to translate between CSV and JSON formats.

• csv_logger

Manipulating nodes within JSON documents

These utilities are used to modify JSON documents by either wrapping documents in topic-identifying tags, or accessing nodes within documents.

Device identity

These utilities are used to read the identity and serial number of the South Coast Science digital front-end (DFE) board, and the OPC firmware version.
