The main objective of design project 1 is going to be getting a foundation set up for the project. Along with this plenty of research will need to be done and I also plan to poke around in Azure and check out what I will need and learn how to use new services. The first thing that needs to be done is setting up the Microsoft account so I can even use Azure AD and the other services. I will have to look into licencing (365 E5 may be my best option) and see if there are potentially some education discounts. With the account setup, I would like to get the domain set up and then connect a local VM to the Azure domain. I will be using a local VM for now because paying for an Azure VM at this stage seems unnecessary and will be set up further down the road. With that setup, I would like to start poking around Intune, as I have never used it before need to figure out if this will be a complete replacement for GP in my environment. If time permits, I would like to look into the shared drives and see if I can get those working with Intune on the local VM.
Overall Goals
- Setup Microsoft account/figure out licensing.
- Get Azure AD setup.
- Add local VM to Azure domain and test out logging in etc.
- Research and try out Intune, see what it has to offer, and determine if it can do everything GP can.
- Look into setting up shared drives with Intune and test out on the local VM.
