Abstract

Switching between working from home and in the office can oftentimes be a complicated task for workers. Struggling with VPN connections and limited access to the organization’s resources are just some of the issues that arise when working remotely. When infrastructure is deployed and configured properly the transition between workplaces can be nearly seamless. In my capstone project, I will be researching and implementing cloud resources that can make working from anywhere easy and reliable. This will be accomplished by using a number of different Azure services that will make up the IT infrastructure for my organization.

Problem

During the COVID-19 outbreaks, many people switched from working in the office to working from home. With this switch, came the need for connectivity for workers at home to the office. Many offices were unprepared for the switch and a lot of end-users struggled to get software working that is required to have connectivity to office resources. Fiddling around with VPN connections and other workarounds for workers is not only frustrating but also unproductive. Organizations need a setup that is easy to work with and reliable.

Purpose

The purpose of this project is to learn about how to deploy and use cloud services from Microsoft Azure while creating an environment that is accessible to any user from anywhere. During this project, I will use my knowledge of networking and cybersecurity to create a secure and accessible cloud environment. The focus will be on creating an environment that is accessible from in the office and remotely. This capstone aims to make the transition between workplaces seamless, easy, and reliable. This will be done with Azure VPN, cloud file shares, and many other services.
