Determining the key points of Forum and Messaging features of our application. Then, distributing the work for our next ween tasks.

Discussion Points

• We discussed different approaches for implementing the real-time chat functionality. We first thought of making the chat non-interactive and use notifications but then we decided to go for a real time functionality. We decided to check these two concepts:

  • Webhooks
  • Websockets

• We discussed the requirements and key points for our forum functionality. We decided on this design:

  • Pre-defined forums:
    • Each thread belongs to a forum
    • Posts created under forums become a thread of that forum in which users can interact through comments
  • We will use Youtube style commenting, only 2 level responding is allowed
  • We might need to add an administration mechanism to manage those forums. Admins might be selected through community by taking applications.
