Voting Note: Based on the Terms of Reference for the iTC, we seek to rule by consensus, but when needed, we can call for an official vote. For a motion to be approved, the following conditions must be met:

  • a two-thirds majority must vote in favor
  • not more than one-quarter of the total votes are negative
  • abstentions and negative votes that do not include a justification/reason are not counted in the final tally

Given that this is a public review of a close to final draft, I want to take a vote to make sure we are in agreement (to the above conditions) to publish the documents for wider review.

Potential Concerns about the vote: The ToR also reference a standard voting period of 3 weeks (2 weeks to vote and 1 week to tally the votes). Our group is very small though, so I do not think we need that amount of time. The size of the group is also of concern. We are at 4 active members (since one just left and her replacement will likely participate but has not been active previously), so any vote totals will be small. There isn't anything in the ToR about who is allowed to vote, just that the final tally meet the requirements above, but either way, we will need to agree to a vote either immediately or over some agreed to period (such as the 2 weeks).

    Which one should we use, “biometric iTC” or “bioiTC”? (Abbreviation of our title is [BS-iTC] in our draft SD but we agreed to change it)
