Biometrics iTC Meeting Minutes

Date/Time: 06/29/2017, 13:30 UTC Agenda: https://github.com/nils-tekampe/cPP-biometrics/wiki/Meeting-Agenda---meeting-2017-06-29

#Attendees: BRINGER Julien Nils Tekampe Naruki Kai Asahiko Yamada

Record of Decisions:

  1. Migrate to GitHub
  2. 2nd step: Discuss editorial issues online using GitHub (so that we can focus on major issues at the web meeting)

Action items by the next meeting:

  • Review open issues and input comments (All)
  • Input a feedback to T.PA_Enrolment (https://github.com/nils-tekampe/cPP-biometrics/issues/27) if necessary. (Asahiko Yamada, Brian Wood)
  • Open a new issue for low quality enrollment (BRINGER Julien)
  • Draft SPD for mobile use case (Naruki Kai)

Discussion notes:

GitHub

Nils finished to convert SPD/Objective to xml file. He also demonstrated how to use GitHub to edit doc, create a link and open a new issue (thread) using the link at the meeting. Nils created our repository based on NIAP MDF PP’s one so it seems that editors need to follow the NIAP xml structure to translate xml into html file correctly.

Link is useful tool to create a new issue. You can click a line number in the xml file that you want to discuss to show a link (URL) to this line. This link can be copied to the issue so that you can identify the line (that is shown in yellow) with one click. This link includes the file version info so if you update the file and line numbers are changed, the link still points to the original line.

Github looks complicated at first but it’s much better than OnlyOffice and you can also learn it with YouTube. Currently we use a private repository that can’t be accessed by non-registered members (Only commercial account can create the private repo, Thanks to Nils). We can also use a public repository that everyone can access. This public repository has services that private one does not provide such as a build service. This build service creates html version automatically when you change the source xml file. We can change to the public one if we think that such services are useful for our job.

Review of open comments

Julien sent the e-mail to CCN to solve several comments but hasn’t received any response yet. We keep open them for the time being but close them in the future if we don’t receive any feedback from CCN. We discussed the issue #27 (https://github.com/nils-tekampe/cPP-biometrics/issues/27). Members agreed the final conclusion as recorded in this issue but we decided to wait for feedback or confirmation from Brian and Asahiko. However low quality enrolment is a still open question so Julien will open a new issue for this topic. [Mobile use case and SPD consideration]

Current SPD includes threats and assumptions that should be modified or removed for mobile use cases as Brain commented. Especially use case 1 assumes that biometric evaluation would be conducted with evaluations based on MDF PP and it’s uncertain whether current SPD could be harmonized with the MDF PP. However we agreed to keep one SPD and other documents (e.g. cPP) to cover all use cases as much as possible, rather than creating separate documents for each one. Nils pointed out that we can define a new tag for mobile use case so that we can handle mobile specific issues separately.

Naruki proposed to create a SPD for mobile use cases in a separate document to make clear what changes should be made to the current SPD. We can discuss if such changes can be handled with the new tag or other methods at the next meeting.
