Active Scan

Active Scans should be used for post AP deployment or when concerns are about one SSID

Setting Up AirMapper

  1. Make sure Site Prep work is done
  2. From the home screen of the tool select the AirMapper App
    AirMapper App
  3. Open AirMaper Settings
    Menu
  4. Select Floor Plan
  5. Select the Floor Plan for the site you are at from the options listed
  6. Back out of floor plan to AirMapper Settings
  7. Select Survey Mode
  8. Set the mode to Connected (Active)
    This requires an active connection to the local WI-FI
  9. Select OK
  10. Select Name
  11. Name the scan with the location you are scanning
  12. Set up the Auto-Test app with the SSID and Password you are looking to scan
  13. Start the Auto-Test scan

Running the Scan

  1. Go to the AirMapper home screen
  2. Select START at the top right

  3. Tap on your location within the site map
  4. A red circle will appear, wait for it to turn green

  5. Move to the edge of the now green circle and tap again at your new location
  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 till the map is completely green
    Dots can be removed by selecting the arrow at the top right
    The map can be rotated with the button on the bottom right
  7. Select the STOP
    If this is done in ERROR you can select RESUME

Uploading the Scan

  1. Select the upload button in the top right

  2. Select Upload to Link-Live
  3. Call into the TACN to confirm file was uploaded and no areas were missed.
  4. Collect info from on-site users of problematic areas.
  5. With TACN review the data collected.

BACK TO WI-FI SCANNER

Passive Scan

Passive Scans should be used in pre-deployment or sites where we want total environment data.

Setting Up AirMapper

  1. Make sure Site Prep work is done
  2. From the home screen of the tool select the AirMapper App
    AirMapper App
  3. Open AirMaper Settings
    Menu
  4. Select Floor Plan
  5. Select the Floor Plan for the site you are at from the options listed
  6. Back out of floor plan to AirMapper Settings
  7. Select Survey Mode
  8. Set the mode to Current Scan (Passive)
  9. Select OK
  10. Select Name
  11. Name the scan with the location you are scanning
  12. Dwell Time should be set to 250ms

Running the Scan

  1. Go to the AirMapper home screen
  2. Select START at the top right

  3. Tap on your location within the site map
  4. A red circle will appear, wait for it to turn green

  5. Move to the edge of the now green circle and tap again at your new location
  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 till the map is completely green
