Credits page β€” Translators, Writers, Builders, Funders and Community

Since: v0.841.0 β€” PR #1363 Β· relay dp-relay #567 (0.182.0)

The title-screen Credits page (book icon) has five community lists under the Made by card, in this order. Funders and Community arrived in v0.872.0 (PR #1398 Β· relay dp-relay #574, 0.186.0).

Translations

Every translator credit from the build-time list (Localization credits) plus anyone the relay has approved since. Opens on the people above 1% of a language; See more shows everyone. Your own names carry an Edit button β€” see Editing your own line.

Writers

Players whose community books the train loved. A book counts as praised when it has at least one up-vote and its up-votes are more than ten times its down-votes; a writer is listed with 20 or more praised books. Read from the relay's books_praised board (live pool) each time the page opens, cached to disk. The last page ends with "Write 20 or more books with positive reviews to be on this list."

Builders

Whoever originally built each template that ships with the mod β€” carriages, carriage contents, dimensional carriages (portal rooms) and track pieces. Two sources, merged per person (uuid, else name; larger count wins):

  • the jar's own weights.json files ("builder": {"uuid", "name"} beside the weight β€” see Development β€Ί Crediting a template's builder), so the list is always right for the version being played, offline included;
  • the relay's GET /templates/builders (live pool), so a credit set after this build was cut is thanked before the next update.

Funders (v0.872.0)

Everyone in the relay's donation ledger β€” Stripe, Revolut and Patreon β€” ranked by all-time contribution, each line <Name> β€” A$N (whole Australian dollars, the same figures the death screen's donation page shows). Relay-only (GET /funders), cached for offline launches, skipped when the ledger is empty. The relay links a donor to a Minecraft account by a book-credit grant bound in-game or by matching the payment name against the roster; that pass runs hourly, and once it has found you your line gets the Edit button below with one extra choice, Hide my amount β€” keep your name on the list without the figure beside it (independent of going anonymous, so "Anonymous β€” A$120" and a bare name are both possible).

Community (v0.872.0)

The Value Adders of the Dungeon Train Discord, ranked by their MEE6 level, each line <Discord name> β€” Level N. The relay polls MEE6's public leaderboard and Discord hourly; the display name is the member's server nickname, else their global name, else their username. Always drawn, because its footer is the only way onto it: Are you on this list? Link your Discord opens a screen that shows a six-character code β€” run /dtlink <code> in the Discord (there is a Copy command button and an Open Discord button), and the screen notices within a few seconds. Codes last fifteen minutes and are single-use; once linked, your line gets the Edit button like any other card. The relay never sends Discord ids to the game β€” names and levels only.

Paging

Each list opens collapsed (Builders: top 5; Writers: top 5; Funders: top 5; Community: top 5; Translations: above 1%). See more switches to the full list in pages of ten with β€Ή Previous Β· Page n of m Β· Next β€Ί, and See less collapses it again. Scroll position survives a page flip.

Leaderboards

Two Tallyman books ride along: Most Templates Built (templates_built β€” credits per builder uuid) and Most Praised Writers (books_praised). Both are resident boards on the relay, recomputed by its sweep; the explorer's leaderboard page shows them too.

Editing your own line (v0.849.0)

Any row that is yours β€” a translator name you submitted under, the writer / funder / community row the relay ranks your uuid at, a builder credit carrying your uuid β€” gets an Edit button on every card, when the internet connection is turned on in Dungeon Train Options. Whichever card you open it from, the edit is to your one identity and every card follows at once:

  • Save a new name β€” it renames you on the Translations, Writers and Builders cards together (every name you ever translated under becomes the new one; your books keep the name they were signed with). Refused if another player already goes by it.
  • Remove my name (behind a confirm) β€” your lines stay with their counts, listed as Anonymous (you); nothing is deleted.
  • Restore my name β€” offered instead of the name box while you are anonymous; puts the name back everywhere.
  • Hide my amount / Show my amount (Funders card only, v0.872.0) β€” the figure beside your name, not the name; the one edit that stays on that card alone.
  • Show my skin on the website (every card, v0.1182.0) β€” a checkbox: unticked, the website's Credits page still names you but never draws you in your own skin (hide_skin / show_skin on the relay, dp-relay β‰₯ 0.232.6).

The change is on the relay's next fetch for everyone else and shows for you at once (dungeontrain/credits/self.json overlays it until the relay's boards catch up β€” they rebuild every five minutes). The jar's baked translator credits stop naming an opted-out translator at the next translation import β€” see Development β€Ί Credited-name changes. Relay side: POST /<CAP>/credits/edit (dp-relay β‰₯ 0.185.0).

The team's own rows (v0.1182.0)

The shipped game's own content is credited too:

  • Builders: Brennan Hatton for every bundled template no player is credited with.
  • Writers: Brennan Hatton and Wilson Taylor for the built-in books. A book counts as one per story letter, one per random-book variant and one per starting-book variant. Wilson wrote the six stories ported from the original game (narratives/originals/) and the original Musings of Faulthurst variants. Everything else, starting books included, is Brennan's.
  • Funders: Brennan Hatton, with A$N spent, not covered. N is everything the project has cost to date less everything raised, and the line goes once support covers it.

How the rows are produced:

  • Builders and Writers counts are generated from the jar's own sources by scripts/credits/house-credits.py into assets/dungeontrain/credits/house_credits.json. Who wrote what is in scripts/credits/writer_credits.json. CI runs --check, which also fails if a variant credited to Wilson stops matching his original.
  • The mod reads the file via client/credits/HouseCredits, and the website reads the same committed file.
  • The Funders row is added by the relay (backers.developerFunderRow, house: true), so it reaches older jars too.

On the website's Credits page:

  • Cycling: each band's player cycles through the skins of the people its list is showing (collapsed rows, or everyone after See more). The list's first person gets twice the time. The name on stage is coloured in the list.
  • Hover and click: hover a name to show them; the cycle waits until the mouse leaves. Click to lock them (underlined) and stop the cycle.
  • The team: the team's rows are hoverable and clickable but never a band's default or part of its cycle. The developer's skin otherwise appears only in the Made-by portrait, which reacts to the mouse, holds its photo↔skin swap while hovered, and swaps on click.
  • Scrolling: when the band under a still mouse starts scrolling away, the mouse animation moves on to the next band.
