The Basics

What is GachaMon

GachaMon is a fun addition to the IronMON Tracker that let's you collect cards for Pokémon that you catch while playing the game. It's not a new game mode or ruleset, but rather a side game that works in the background while you play.

Capturing GachaMon Cards

GachaMon cards can be obtained by catching Pokémon and looking at their stats on the Tracker. Once you look at a Pokémon, the Tracker can use that Pokémon's stats, moves, ability, etc. to create a unique GachaMon card for it. This process is called "capturing a GachaMon."

After capturing a new GachaMon, a message will appear at the bottom of the Tracker for a brief time. If you click on the message, it will show you a GachaMon Card Pack which you can open. Opening the pack will reveal the GachaMon card for the Pokémon!

Note: If you prefer to see the GachaMon card pack opening first before looking at the Pokémon's stats and info, you can enable this Option in the GachaMon screen overlay.

You can see all the GachaMon cards you've captured in the GachaMon overlay on the Tracker (click the Stars, or go to Settings > Extras > GachaMon Collection).

Note: Newly captured GachaMon cards are NOT added to your Collection by default. See Keeping Cards in Collection for more information.

Viewing a GachaMon Card

GachaMon cards show cool information about the Pokémon.

image

The card itself is fairly simple, it shows:

  1. Its Star Rating
  2. Its Battle Power
  3. The Pokémon Image
  4. Its Ability
  5. Its Name
  6. Its Types (color of the card frame)
  7. Its Stat Spread (dashes next to the name)

Additionally, each GachaMon card records extra information about itself and the game it was used in:

  1. Its Nature
  2. Its Level when captured
  3. Its numerical Rating value
  4. When it was collected (Date, Game, Seed #)
  5. Its Stats when captured
  6. Its Moves when captured

All of this information about the GachaMon card is locked in at the time of capturing it. The card is a permanent collection piece. It won't change if your Pokémon learns new moves, but you can see what it would look like by clicking the "Up+Down" arrow next to the card's version number.

GachaMon cards will also show how many Gym badges its associated Pokémon collected during the game. If it beats the game, a ribbon will be shown on the GachaMon card!

Keeping GachaMon Cards in Collection

GachaMon includes a Collection system, a way to permanently keep any cool or awesome GachaMon cards that you've captured as you play. Typically, you may not want to keep every GachaMon card you see, as some aren't that exciting or impressive enough.

To keep a GachaMon card in your collection:

  1. Go to the Captures tab in the GachaMon screen overlay.
  2. Click on the card you want to keep
  3. Then click "Add to Collection"

image

GachaMon cards marked for "Add to Collection" will show with a green checkmark on the Captures screen. These will be added to your collection when you begin a new seed (use the New Run feature: A + B + START)

image

Some GachaMon cards will automatically be added to your Collection:

  • Any Pokémon that defeats 2 or more trainers, its GachaMon card will be added
  • Any shiny/holo GachaMon card
  • Any GachaMon prize card obtained from defeating trainers

You can also have it automatically add GachaMon cards for any new Pokémon species that you capture. This is an Option you can enabled if you want an easier time completing your GachaDex.

The GachaDex

The "GachaDex" is essentially a PokéDex but for GachaMon cards. It will record all GachaMon cards you've seen (captured) as well as show which ones you've kept in your Collection. Try and collect 'em all!

image

  • Magnifying Glass to peek/reveal all missing GachaMon
  • Seen GachaMon cards are captured but not kept in Collection
  • Coll. GachaMon cards are currently in your Collection
  • Completion percentage as the % number

Note: You can use the mouse wheel to quickly scroll up-and-down the GachaDex; it also works anywhere else on the Tracker!

The Ratings System

Stars and Ratings

Stars are a way of grading a GachaMon on a simple scale from 1 to 5 stars, with 1-star GachaMons being weak and 5-star GachaMons being quite strong. The number of stars a GachaMon has is determined by its Rating score. The below chart shows the Rating-to-Star conversion table. Currently, 5+ star-rating is indicated by platinum stars.

Rating Stars
80+ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐➕
67 - 79 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
54 - 66 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
40 - 53 ⭐⭐⭐
25 - 39 ⭐⭐
0 - 24

A GachaMon's Rating score is a numerical value calculated from many factors about the Pokémon it's based off of. This includes:

  • It's ability
  • It's moves
  • It's stats (and spread)
  • It's nature

The Rating calculation is also influenced by the active IronMON ruleset being played. For example, a move or ability that is banned in Kaizo will be worth 0 points towards the GachaMon's Rating. Note: The ruleset being applied is automatically determined by the Tracker's New Run profile, but can be adjusted in GachaMon Overlay -> Options.

Battle Power

A GachaMon's Battle Power (BP) is a fun stat on the card used exclusively for GachaMon card battling. The higher the BP, the "stronger" the GachaMon.

Battle Power is calculated from a few different factors about the GachaMon:

  • It's stars
  • It's total move power
  • Number of different STAB moves
  • It's nature

GachaMon Card Versions

All GachaMons have a card version associated with them (shown on the single-card view screen). This "version" is similar to printed TCG cards with "1st edition" printings as well as future, revised printings. Different card versions exist because occasionally adjustments or revisions need to be made to how a GachaMon card is created (stars, ratings, bug fixes, etc.). As such, a distinction needs to be made between early cards created with certain Ratings formulas and newer cards created with adjusted Ratings formulas.

Ratings Formulas and Calculations

A GachaMon's Rating score is a complex numerical value determined by many different factors about the Pokémon. In general, if something about a Pokémon is beneficial, it gains points towards its Rating score. If something is helpful or is detrimental, it won't gain any points or may lose points depending on what it is. Exact details about how this is calculated, per card version, can be seen below.

The base ratings for all moves and abilities are values pre-caluclated by iateyourpie, the creator of IronMON. The formula used to calculate these base ratings is secret and will not be revealed here (or within the Tracker code).
