Wardriving Skateboard (Warskating)
![]()
The idea of this project is to build a skateboard that can scan for wifi networks as you roll down the street. Using a Raspberry Pi or an old Android smartphone fixed to the bottom of the deck, the board will probe for networks and upload them to WiGLE, creating a network map of Burlington.
The advantage of warskating as opposed to wardriving is that since a skateboard moves slower than a car, it will give the system more time to scan for networks.
After the data is collected and uploaded to the map, each network can be analyzed for security strength, leading to a greater understanding of Burlington's security practices. The final report will aim make a map of free and secure Wi-Fi nodes around Burlington that can be used by tourists and people who need internet access.
Deliverables:
- Wi-Fi map of Burlington area
- Wardriving skateboard
- How-to Article (WikiHow)
- YouTube video of warskating
