Lab 6‐2 ‐ Classful Subnetting - benjamintyler367/NET-150-Journal GitHub Wiki
What we did in this lab
In this lab we made a tree topology style network. We labeled this network as, Foster (30 hosts), Joyce (20 hosts), Skiff (30 hosts), Foster to Skiff (2 hosts) and Joyce to Skiff (2 hosts) we connected each of the routers with serial cables so they can communicate with each other and we connected the PC's to the switches and the switches to the routers with copper straight through cables. We then configured everything so each router and the stuff connected to it were on their own subnets.
Stuff I found useful
I am very bad at remembering IP addresses, I always switch 1 number to where it should not be, this makes testing networks with ping commands tedious and easy to screw up. The PDU feature in packet tracer allows me to click on one machine and click on another to test that they are connected properly.
Problems I encountered
I am very bad at putting in IP's correctly so I kept messing up and putting the wrong number here and there, these were sorted out by me just cross checking and reviewing my work till the network started working. Another problem I encountered is that the router kept changing the clock speed down to 1200 when connecting the serial cables, this was sorted out by me just changing the clock speed so that it is correct.
