Project Meeting 2016.09.22 - bellevuewa/BKRCast GitHub Wiki

Model development update

  • Skimming, Daysim demand, and supplemental demand models are running
  • Using new BKR network and zone system
  • Using PSRC's OpenStreetMap based shortest paths file
  • ~40 minutes for skims, ~5 hours for Daysim for 100% of PSRC hhs, ~15 minutes supplemental models
  • We ran PSRC's built-in model summaries - tours rates, trip length freqs, mode shares, assignment volumes - and nothing looks terrible (i.e. there appears to be nothing wrong with the model setup)
  • Still need to correct a few inputs and re-run the entire setup (see Input Data Development below)
  • Will package up and send to BKR to run when ready
  • Will commit revisions/updates to scripts, programs, etc to this BKRCast repository when ready

Input data development

  • We will keep BKR's dummy zones for now and setup EMME and Daysim to allow for them
  • There are 4 TAZs with no parcels - BKR will review and likely drop these TAZs since it is easier than adding parcels
  • There are some inconsistencies in the BKR link speeds and VDFs, including connectors. BKR to review.
  • IXXI fractions table (which is the share of workers coming and going from the model region) is all 0s
    • PSRC will update using CTPP / JTW and then we will use for BKRCast
    • This is somewhat accounted for by the supplemental external model; need to be careful about double counting
  • TAZ Index file externals column is used for OD district-to-district balancing in SoundCast and this still needs to be updated for BKR; we will update
  • BKR will prepare TAZ terminal times; for now we're using 1 min for BKR, 3 min for PSRC zones
  • PSRC prohibits truck productions and attractions in the Seattle CBD; we will do the same for BKRCast
  • PSRC to send along the mf.hhemp columns names since this file is used in the supplemental models and needs to be updated
  • Daysim uses offstreet parking per-day and per-hour spaces and price per-day and per-hour; Daysim has a free park at work model
  • BKR will review the parcel file to make sure they are comfortable with all the various inputs
    • buffered_parcels.dat text file for PSRC
    • Hu help setup an ArcGIS map with the relevant information - parcel x,ys, TAZs, background maps
    • Mark to send latest parcel file documentation

Employment data

  • Need employment data at the TAZ level as well for the supplemental models
  • PSRC to check on using the LODES-based employment data instead

Eventual next steps

  • Integrate TAZ-based population sampler
  • Switch from 12 to 4 time periods
