Markdown to MSWord - bellevuewa/BKRCast GitHub Wiki

This section provides instructions on how to convert a wiki markdown file (*.md) to a microsoft word document (*.docx). This is especially useful for editing tables.

pandoc

• Install pandoc
  • Download pandoc (version 1.19 or higher) from here and install on your machine.
  • To verify installation, open a command prompt and type: pandoc --version
  • You should see a message telling you the pandoc version installed on your machine
• Convert to DOCX
  • Open a command prompt and navigate to your working directory
  • Type: pandoc README.md -o README.docx
  • This will create a 'README.docx' file in your working directory
• Convert from DOCX
  • Open a command prompt and navigate to your working directory
  • Type: pandoc -s README.docx -t markdown-simple_tables+pipe_tables -o README.md
  • This will create a 'README.md' file in your working directory
