Introduction

PeptideShaker Online is a web application, which although its user interface is shown to the user via web browser, the vast majority of its operations are executed and served to the frontend from a remote backend (in this case, running a Java Servlet container). Actually, the heaviest calculations required to execute analysis and prepare the graphical components may also be done separately in the same or another different server running a Galaxy instance (see more details below).

In this way, the user interface is completely detached from the internal data management, and it may be structured using different architectures which adapt to every lab necessities.
