AutoReduceNmaster - bakkeby/dusk GitHub Wiki
The nmaster variable controls how many client windows are displayed in the master area of the layout.
By default if a window in the master area is closed then another one from the stack area will take it's place.
AutoReduceNmaster off
The AutoReduceNmaster
functionality automatically reduces the number of clients that are displayed
in the master area if:
- the window closed was shown in the master area and
-
nmaster
is greater than 1
AutoReduceNmaster on
The reasoning behind this feature is that there is often a specific reason for having multiple windows in the master area - for example having two main windows being worked on simultaneously.
When closing a master window in this situation it may make more sense for the other main window to recouperate the extra space rather than a less interesting window taking its place.
The alternative is to manually reduce nmaster
as and when needed.
