Usage ‐ SLM ‐ Modify Programs - babsonnexus/stream-link-manager-for-channels GitHub Wiki
No matter if a Movie, TV Show, or Video was added through search, import, or manual selection, that does not mean they are set in stone. You can use the Previously Bookmarked block to make any update as desired.
Basics
All that is necessary is selecting an item from the list and clicking the Edit button.
Programs that were previously hidden are not show in the list by default. However, you can turn on the Show Hidden Programs option and they will then be in the list.
Whether modifying a visible or hidden program, upon editing, you will be brought into an area that looks similar to this:
For performance reasons, only 100 line items are initially loaded. As you scroll down, more become available. Nevertheless, as will be discussed below, you can affect changes to large swaths of the items using filtering and/or global controls. As such, even a TV Show with thousands of Episodes can be easily handled without worry!
Reviewing Programs and Stream Links/Files
This screen is also the same space you would be thrown into should you choose to edit a program while bookmarking. Within this area are many functions, as will be discussed. For instance, one such thing you can do just by looking is to check on the status of generation results.
Note that the Current Stream Link field for Movies and TV Show episodes will always be greyed out and unable to be modified (It is not available for Videos because it is irrelevant as you must input a Video Link for those). If it is blank, this is an indication that no Stream Link was generated. If you want to change the Stream Link, give it one when none was generated, or input something for a Stream File, that is what the Stream Link/File Override field is for. After regenerating Stream Links/Files through any method, you should see something like this:
The Current Stream Link field having the skipped_for_override or strm_must_use_override value lets you know a Stream Link/File file was creating using the Stream Link/Files Override value that was input.
Core Functions
Aside from these modifications, there is much more that can be done here. Potential actions at the program and details levels include:
- Generating Stream Links/Files
- Hiding
- Deleting
- Importing Metadata
- Modifying other fields
At the program level, these actions do vary by type, but might consist of something like this:
Thus, if you make a change at the program level, you must choose to Save. If you want to delete the program in its entirety, you would select Delete. Similarly, if you wanted to generate Stream Links/Files on the fly, you can do so with that selection and it will run that for every child detail item. In the same vein, those lines have their own actions, again slightly different by object type.
As a use case example, here is a TV Show that was created using search, but the natural Stream Link generation will only link to the subtitled episodes. In order to get dubbed episodes, a number of inputs are needed, including a Stream Link/File Override and an Episode Prefix:
There is very little that is beyond the reach of an end-user to modify if necessary, even the Title and Release Year.
In this same location, you can change other elements like hiding / unhiding using the Bookmarks Status and inputting or importing program-level metadata. Video Groups have even more things to control, such as the sort order. In other blocks, there is even the ability to assign / unassign labels
Managing Detail Level
Down in the details, you can manually add additional TV Show Episodes and Videos:
Similarly, these and any of the existing ones can be deleted. However, if it is a searched bookmark TV Show or a Sync'd Playlist (i.e., not a manual TV Show or non-sync'd Video Group), the episode/video will just get re-added as "unwatched" unless you Disable Get New Episodes for TV Shows or do not sync for Video Groups.
Global Controls
In some situations, you may want to take actions against a mass of TV Show Episodes or Videos at once. In these situations, there is a "Global" block.
From the global selection dropdown, you can choose which TV Show Episodes or Videos you want to run actions against.
With TV Shows, you could make the changes happen to every episode, only in a specific season, or all episode through a designated season. It is much the same with Videos, except there are no differentiators like Seasons. However, with both TV Shows and Videos, you can actually use the filter functionality to get it down to whatever you want and then run these actions against only what is visible.
Most fields are available for modification, although there are some exceptions where it doesn't make logical sense. For instance, with Videos, you cannot assign the same Video Link to every single one of them. In order for an item field to be changed among your selection, you must check off that specific global version of the field.
That way, global changes will only impact exactly where you want them to while leaving all other fields alone. As a use case example, if you have a TV Show where neither Gracenote nor TMDB have duration data, you'd want to use the import metadata function to get all that detail. Yet, when doing so, you also end up with Episode Titles and Summaries, which you may not need. In that case, you could then use the global function to clear out the Episode Titles and Summaries for the individual episodes while retaining that Duration data.
Wrapping Up
When mixing actions from the global and detail level, and including the program level and other items like manual order, there is a priority order. It will always go:
- Deleting Program or Hiding Program
- Deleting Item or Global Delete
- Hiding/Moving Item or Global Hiding/Moving
- Saving Item Data
- Importing Item Metadata
- Global Modifying or Importing Metadata
- Manual Order (if applicable)
Should you choose to Generate Stream Links/Files for the program, that will happen after all other actions. Whenever you are ready for any or all of these tasks to be undertaken, you can click to execute the actions, either continuing to ensure everything is as you desire or finishing up and moving on to your next task (if any).
You can also cancel out anything you have done at anytime by just backing out without any execution.
