Usage ‐ General ‐ Settings: Channels Directory - babsonnexus/stream-link-manager-for-channels GitHub Wiki
Streaming Library Manager in general, and the Stream Link/File Manager Extension in particular, need access to a host machine's folders in order read, write, create, and remove certain files and directories. That location is determined by the Stream Links/Files and Media Base Directory that is assigned in the Settings area.

What this directory should be is a function of your Edition and which Extensions you have active. For instance, if you are using "Solo Edition", then this directory is irrelevant and can be set to anything. However, if you are using the "Media Players Edition" and you are using the "Stream Link/File Manager" Extension, then it needs to be a location that your media player server tool (i.e., Infuse) has access to. However, like "Solo Edition", if you are not using "Stream Link/File Manager", then the location is rather meaningless. Similarly, if you are using the "Channels DVR Edition", in order for many of the program functions to work correctly, it needs to be pointed to your core Channels DVR user folder. This is the one that is the parent to the Imports directory. It will look something like this:

Once again, do note that you must use the parent Channels DVR directory, not the Imports or anything similar. If you do not set this correctly or do not have access from the machine you installed Streaming Library Manager on, then you will not be able to do many things, such as generate Stream Links that Channels DVR can see or be able to get updates from Channels DVR when programs are watched and deleted. Even if a Channels DVR user is not using "Stream Link/File Manager", this should still be set correctly because the "Media Tools Manager Extension" does work against files and folders in this directory. Only if both "Stream Link/File Manager" and "Media Tools Manager" are disabled should a Channels DVR user consider not setting this to the relevant directory.
During initialization, an attempt was made to find the Channels DVR version of folder. If such a location could not be discovered, the directory you installed the program into was used. At this point, you can modify and set the location to anything that is visible to Streaming Library Manager. Keep in mind that if using Docker, this is a mapped location under the channels_folder within the Container. You should literally have a directory named "channels_folder" right underneath /app.

As a reminder, this is the folder you set during installation and should be what you are using or allow you to get to the location on the host machine that you are using. Do not worry about the nomenclature if you are not a Channels DVR user; it is just a name that the program knows. Either way, from that location, you can navigate up the directory structure or manually type in a path to get where you want.

When you get to the preferred or required location, use the Select button to set that directory.
