When sorting alphabetically, sometimes it makes sense to ignore specific words. For instance, if a list contains...

  • Bird 1
  • Cat 1
  • Dog 1
  • The Bird 2
  • The Cat 2
  • The Dog 2

... it would make sense to ignore "the" and sort accordingly. This is known as an "article", and they can be set to be ignored using Articles for Sorting in the Settings area.

By default, Streaming Library Manager comes preloaded with the English and Spanish options. You can add to and remove any item from Articles for Sorting as desired and/or needed. As you type, suggestions will be offered from a variety of languages, such as:

  • English: "the", "a", "an"
  • Spanish: "el", "la", "los", "las", "un", "una", "unos", "unas"
  • Portuguese: "o", "a", "os", "as", "um", "uma", "uns", "umas"
  • French: "le", "la", "les", "un", "une", "des"
  • German: "der", "die", "das", "ein", "eine", "einen"
  • Italian: "il", "lo", "la", "i", "gli", "le", "un", "una", "uno"
  • Bosnian: "taj", "ta", "to", "jedan", "jedna", "jedno"
  • Catalan: "el", "la", "els", "les", "un", "una", "uns", "unes"
  • Czech: "ten", "ta", "to", "jeden", "jedna", "jedno"
  • Finnish: "se", "yksi"
  • Croatian: "taj", "ta", "to", "jedan", "jedna", "jedno"
  • Hungarian: "a", "az", "egy"
  • Icelandic: "það", "þessi", "einn", "ein", "eitt"
  • Maltese: "il", "l-", "xi", "wieħed", "waħda"
  • Polish: "ten", "ta", "to", "jeden", "jedna", "jedno"
  • Romanian: "cel", "cea", "cei", "cele", "un", "o", "niște"
  • Slovak: "ten", "tá", "to", "jeden", "jedna", "jedno"
  • Slovenian: "ta", "ta", "to", "en", "ena", "eno"
  • Albanian: "një", "një", "një"

  • Turkish: "bir

Inclusion or exclusion of a specific language should not be considered an endorsement of any kind. Either way, you are not limited to these potential values; anything is allowed. As such, it is completely up to you!

In the example above, using the preloaded selections, the list would now look like this:
