Scene 1 - end of the diner party at Robert's house

Olivia is glad not to have attended the summoning. The dinner wraps up. Olivia bids farewell to Robert and leaves.

9 November 1934

Scene 2 - Breakfast

Discussion on what we will do. We have the addresses of Echavarria's properties as well as George Ayers (and Phillis Page) and Yolanda Spenzel. We also have to visit the FDIC to track down the safety deposit box. Key number 431. The lack of ID to access the box is raised. Robert is going to try and get a fake ID made by the props department. He manages to get a commitment to produce something and drop it off later that day, but he is suspicious of the quality.

Echavarria's house is now owned by the Holland family. The farmland is owned by Sunnyside State development.

Mikhail suggests Robert uses his connections to try and find out more about Ayers and Phillis Page, the Holland family and Yolanda. He does and the contact will get back to Robert tomorrow.

Ralph will try and find out more about the creature Gol-goroth.

We head for the farmland to take a look.

Scene 3 - Echavarria's Old Farmland

While some farms still exist, much of the land is being developed for housing. We arrive at the correct lot at midday. The barn and farm structure remain, although they are very dilapidated and ravaged by nature. Construction is going on in the adjacent lot.

We look around. The fire appears to be the cause of the structural collapse. The barn suffered more damage. There are occult symbols visible in some of the wooden beams and rocks. There is an arrangement of flat stones inscribed with symbols near the barn. Inspecting them, it seems like it was part of a ring around the barn. The symbols on the rocks appear to be from two different sets. They are not warding symbols. The sets seem to alternate between rocks. They appear to have been selected for their flatness rather than composition. We take photos.

Robert and William go into the farmhouse. There is evidence that there have been recent efforts to pull it down. it does not appear to have been lived in. We spot a small bottle. It appears to be of high quality. The bottom is broken. It is attached to a chain. We take it and examine it. It has no smell. It is reminiscent of Olivia's story of being given small doses of drugs on entering Echavarria's party.

Interlude: Michael has mike issues :)

Ralph is bitten by a feral cat. It leaves an odd mark, with misshapen teeth. It flees outside.

We are approached by a worker (Ronald Davis) who asks what we are doing here. Robert says he is scouting for locations. He gives a fake name (James Madison) as does Michael (Scott Ridley) and is advised to call head office. He appears to be dodgy. When asked about why this lot was skipped, he says they had initially started to work on it (hence the recent damage to the farmhouse) but this was abandoned after there was some trouble - workers bitten by snakes x 2 and a wild dog.

We search for signs of blood trails mentioned in the police report. We find some and follow it towards a nearby hill. We find a faint set of tire tracks. A car parked here would be hidden from the farm. A second set of old tire tracks is found near the barn. It looks like many cars were parked here.

We leave and return to Robert's house. Mikhail notices we are being followed. We carry on until we find another construction site. We pull over to see what the tail will do. We make a note of the license. The car drives past. Mikhail gets a glimpse of the driver, the only person in the car. He's an average American Joe. We turn around and flee. We see them do the same in the distance but we manage to lose them.

Scene 4 - Robert's house

The fake ID has been delivered. Michael spots issues with it and manages to fix it up to correct them. Robert dons a disguise to make him look more like Henslowe. Mikhail has a bath. Everybody else leave for the FDIC.

Scene 5 - FDIC

Ralph, Nolan and William stay in the car outside. Michael and Robert go in and speak to the receptionist. They explain they want to access the box. The receptionist checks the ID and looks up the box - it is in a warehouse in Long Beach. She gives them the address and says they will likely be closed now.

Montage - Robert is going out on the town to maintain his public profile, the rest are not invited. Mikhail is getting a massage. The others are doing their own stuff.

10 November 1934

Scene 6 - Breakfast

Everyone feels rested. An envelope arrives from the fixer.

The Holland family bought Echavarria's home at auction in 1924. The wife does not work, 2 young kids, the husband is a relatively successful real estate agent, focusing on homes for the rich and famous.

Yolanda Spenzel seems to be clean - sister of a famous actor (Spend), she was left in poverty when he died and ended up working as a maid.

There is some info on George Ayers but nothing in the last decade. He still holds a position at UCLA. He may be inactive or elsewhere.

Phillis Page is an academic at UCLA in physics. She joined 7-8 years ago. She is somewhat successful in her academic life but she is generally unremarkable.

Session ends
