An Unforgettable Trip to the Mountains

Last winter, my uncle invited our family to his cottage in the mountains. We traveled by train, and the journey took almost five hours. When we arrived, the scenery was breathtaking—white snow covered everything like a thick blanket.

The first morning, we put on our boots and coats to go hiking. The path was slippery, so we walked carefully. My cousin brought a map, but we still got lost for a while! Finally, we reached a frozen lake, where some people were ice skating. My sister tried it but fell immediately, making everyone laugh.

In the afternoon, we helped my uncle chop wood for the fireplace. My aunt cooked hot chocolate, which tasted delicious after being outside in the cold. That evening, we played chess and cards by the fire. My grandfather told us stories about when he was young, and we listened quietly.

The next day, we rode a cable car up the highest peak. The view was incredible—we could see valleys, forests, and even a waterfall in the distance. I took many pictures with my new camera.

On our last night, there was a snowstorm. The wind howled loudly, and the electricity went out! We used candles and flashlights, and my uncle made popcorn over the fire. It felt like an adventure.

When it was time to leave, I felt sad. This trip was different from our usual holidays—it was challenging but memorable. I hope we can go back next year!
