2012.05.31 Weekly Check In - atlregional/OpenTripPlanner GitHub Wiki
14:31 <demory> hey everyone!
14:31 <grant_h> hi!
14:31 <novalis_dt> Hi!
14:31 <jcwong86> hi
14:31 <demory> great, let's get started
14:32 <novalis_dt> I spent the week fixing a ton of bugs reported by randoms. Also, Grant and I may have finally come up with a solution on the dread #726.
14:32 <demory> my update -- various things this week, including preparing for the webinar (which went well, I thought -- about 75 people listening by my count), plus some general OTP Deployer stuff
14:32 <demory> CUTR plans to put a recording of the webinar online btw, I'll share that once its ready
14:33 <jcwong86> I'm finishing up a blog post about the CaBi analysis for b-Roll and GGW. also putting together an R script and LaTeX doc for anyone else to use similar steps to get the data in shape from other places
14:35 <jcwong86> Also making progress on the methods from transit capacity & quality of service manual. If anyone's interested - see the doc I shared on google docs
14:35 <novalis_dt> jcwong86, I would really like to consider adjusting biking speeds in light of your findings.
14:35 <novalis_dt> I'm just not sure whether to adjust average speed or turn/crossing penalties
14:36 <jcwong86> @novalis_dt before we do that - kevin mentioned to do time differences based on percent of trip distance
14:36 <jcwong86> its a pretty different story there - the small 2-3 minute differences look bigger as a percentage of the trip
14:37 <jcwong86> i'll try to get that histogram shared in a few min
14:37 <novalis_dt> Thanks
14:37 <demory> jcwong86, did you share the TCQSM doc w/ me? i'd be interested in reading it
14:38 <jcwong86> just did - sry missed the davids
14:38 <demory> no worries -- just got it. thanks!
14:39 <jcwong86> this is based on 2001 manual - i'm checking in on the latest methods so we'll be more current than these. i'll have those documented tomorrow or monday.
14:40 <demory> is there any kind of set timeframe for updates / new releases of the manual?
14:41 <jcwong86> I believe they're looking at sometime next year. there's several research projects that go into these and most of them are wrapping up now. they're drafting the new chapters currently
14:41 <jcwong86> i'm in touch with the principle investigator who has offered to be a resource when we come up to specific questions about it
14:42 <demory> great, thanks
14:42 <demory> ok, anyone else?
14:42 <demory> TriMet folks, anything new?
14:43 <demory> (please pass along my thanks to Bibiana for helping w/ the webinar!!)
14:47 <FrankP> I released an update this week -- it includes fixes to the time input which makes it more tolerant ... enter 12 and it goes to 12 pm, enter 1022 and it converts to 10:22 am, etc...
14:48 <novalis_dt> Excellent!
14:48 <FrankP> (This was done from feedback from the call agents, who type their time like 233, and expect 2:33 pm)
14:49 <demory> that reminds me, is it maybe time for a new OTP release? looks like there've been a number of updates/fixes since 0.7.5
14:49 <novalis_dt> I think so.
14:50 <demory> ok. let's mention it to abyrd next time he's on
14:50 <novalis_dt> Yep
14:51 <demory> ok, anything else?
14:52 <novalis_dt> Nothing here
14:52 <FrankP> Hey Dave & David, question was asked about GTFS-rt on the webinar, and what all was implemented. By this time next year, I'd like to see OTP remove missed pulls and cancelled trips (or cancelled blocks). How much is the Trip Updates spec implemented in OTP?
14:53 <novalis_dt> I think we actually can do that now
14:54 <demory> but only service alerts is currently implemented now, right?
14:54 <FrankP> Cool. As soon as we the TM Trip Update service running (should be in Sept.), I'll start testing it out. (Maybe I'll try to hack together a mock service before then...but we should start publishing that stuff within the year).
14:55 <novalis_dt> I thought we had implemented cancelled trips
14:55 <novalis_dt> Maybe I only thought I did, or maybe it got removed for some reason
14:55 <novalis_dt> Anyway, if I had a mock service, I could code to it
14:56 <demory> well you could be right (though I only mentioned service alerts on the webinar)
14:56 -!- jcwong86 [jcwong86@nat/openplans.org/x-lnzrdfbfisszzyip] has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
14:56 <FrankP> I'll ask Guy (co-worker who works on transit tracker / gtfs-rt) when he'll have something.
14:57 <novalis_dt> OK, excellent.
15:00 <demory> alright, anyone have anything else?
15:03 <demory> guess not. thanks everyone!
15:04 <demory> we'll be back to our regular time next week
