Nearest airport is Tucson International Airport (TUS). Uber etc. cost about 15 USD from TUS to campus/downtown. Ride share pick-up point is curb-side on the upper level (arrivals are at the lower level). Once outside the terminal, walk to the right until the pick up point.
Google Group: astropymeeting2018
Please contact SOC if you need an invite.
Tucson Marriott University Park -- Group rate is 93 USD, plus 12.05% and 4 USD bed tax. Booking deadline has passed.
If you cannot make it, you must cancel your hotel booking at least 24 hours before the first night of your reservation or you will be billed for the first night of your stay on the credit card you used to hold your reservation. The group block will be held until Nov 4, 2018 (i.e., group rate is unavailable after that date).
Note that group rate has limited rooms available. Please let the SOC know if there is a need for more rooms to be available under this rate. The rate is similar to the FY2019 US Government rate for lodging in Tucson, so if you are eligible for government rate, you may not need the group rate.
NOAO Main Conference Room (no. 180), which is the largest meeting room in the single-building, single-floor building (i.e., impossible to miss).
Please be advised that the organizers need to know that you are attending on-site well in advance in order to provide you with proper access card to the facility. On the first day, enter through the 950 N Cherry Ave entrance and sign in with Ms. Maria Benfante at the receptionist's desk to obtain an access card. You must return the card at the end of the meeting.

Meeting topics can be suggested via this Google doc. Please check first to see if your topic is already listed. Please be concise and include links to GitHub issues or PRs, if applicable. Due to limited time slots, not all topics could be scheduled, unfortunately. Some might require parallel breakout discussions, which would be scheduled during the meeting.
Breakout planning: https://github.com/orgs/astropy/projects/2 (Breakout rooms will be assigned on the spot based on topics and interest.)
Crowd-source meeting notes is the main Google doc for writing down meeting discussions and breakout/sprint results. You may document a specific topic in much detail in a different Google doc, but please link that back in this main document and please make your doc group viewable and editable.
After the meeting, the crowd-source meeting notes would be used as a basis for formal meeting minutes.
From Monday to Friday, all breakfasts, breaks, and lunches are provided. There is also the employee lounge (Advantage Market) if you want to pay for additional snacks or drinks outside of catered food. For dinner, see local restaurants if you need ideas.
If people arrive early and wish to hang out, there is always the #meeting2018-social Slack channel. ๐
One recommendation is to meet at Gentle Ben's, 865 East University Boulevard, next door to the Marriott, which has craft beer & good food. But check the Slack channel for detailed updates.
