Robust Zero Tolerant HSR PRP Ethernet Switch on iWave’s Zynq 7000 SoCs - aslamiwave/FPGA GitHub Wiki
In the last decade, Ethernet technology has paved its way into the world of mission-critical networks and conquers new domains such as Industrial Automation Systems, Industrial IIoT (IIoT), Power Plants and so on. To overcome the limitations of zero-recovery time when a failure occurs in a communication network, guaranteeing high availability and ensuring no frame loss in the presence of an error in critical-time domains, a new Ethernet redundancy protocols have been developed: HSR (High-availability Seamless Redundancy) and PRP (Parallel Redundancy Protocol).
Today, iWave Systems collaborates with SoC-e (pioneered in developing IP portfolios for leading-edge networking and synchronization technologies for critical time systems), advancing together to provide the immediate availability of HSR/PRP facilitated iWave’s Zynq 7000 SoC Development Kit.
iWave’s Zynq 7000 SOM development platform and Quad FMC Ethernet Daughter Card as target platform, the SoC-e’s HSR-PRP Switch IP Core has been successfully tested and validated for highest throughput.

To accomplish the safety-critical mission of transmission and distribution automation, high availability and stability are always essential in industrial communication networks. Thus, the establishment of two IEC 62439-3 standards, HSR and PRP cut the network downtime, improving network resilience and ensuring zero switchover time when a link fails. The combination of iWave’s Zynq SoC SOM and SoC-e’s HSR/PRP Switch IP Core paves the way to reduce the time-to-market, minimalistic design, simphe design complexity, prolonged existence and BSPs / device drivers available in numerous RTOS environments. Also, clients are benefited by iWave & SoC-e during integration. For further information or enquiries please write to [email protected] or contact our Regional Partners.
