General Art Style
We have chosen to use a cartoony, low poly art style for our game. The Characters and environment have exaggerated proportions and shapes, that can be easily recognised from their silhouettes.
With this style it will make the character and environment assets easier to create within the time limit for the game jam and make any needed changes to them further down the pipeline.
One of the games themes is MLM (multi level marketing) pyramid schemes so the style of the warlock character and some of the environments includes triangular, pyramid like shapes.
The colour palette for the characters and environment is 2 bit, black and white plus another colour which is decided by certain game mechanics.
Here's a mood board containing some games as inspiration that have a cartoony, low poly style.
Games in mood board - Good morning drifter, The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker, Trover saves the universe, Untitled goose game
We have a dithering style to the shading of objects and using simple low poly shapes work better in this style. Mood Board of games with dithering, including Anti Chamber and Return of the Obra Dinn.
Environment Art Style
